Despite being substituted out of last weekend’s clash with a corked calf, Sean Lemmens’ sensational maiden AFL season is expected to continue when the Gold Coast SUNS meet the Western Bulldogs at Metricon Stadium this Sunday.
The 19-year-old ball of energy has been a regular feature of Guy McKenna’s backline puzzle this season, impressing with his flashy counter-attacking ability.
Lemmens has performed strongly across his eight starts this season, and while the first-year player is set to be closely managed by the club’s medical staff, high performance manager Stephen Schwerdt is confident the gun youngster will be available for senior selection.
“He got a knock on it and suffered a corked calf; sometimes they can get a bit stiff and sore and we had the substitute ready to go and decided to use it,” Schwerdt said.
“He should be fine and is expected to be up and running so he should be available for selection this week.
Equally as exciting is the potential return of Clay Cameron to footy, with the defender expected to make his comeback via the NEAFL competition against the UWS Giants following an extended layoff.
“Clay has been out with a shoulder injury, and it has taken a few weeks to come good but we think he is ready to go,” Schwerdt said.
“He has a few things he needs to cross off at training this week but he should be okay to go again.”
