The Gold Coast SUNS this week headed out into schools throughout the Gold Coast, to deliver the second round of visits of the clubs very popular SHINE Schools program.

Aimed at Grade 4 students, the SHINE schools program is a partnership program with Gold Coast City Council Lifeguards and AFL Queensland Game Development team, that focusing on Healthy Eating, Physical activity, Beach Safety and Playing AFL.

15 players who have undergone training for the program, deliver the program directly to the students.
Schools involved in today’s visit included :

  • Silkwood Stinear
  • Surfers Paradise SS
  • Miami SS
  • Southport SS
  • Ashmore SS
  • Nerang SS
  • St Kevins SS

Close to 2500 students will go through the program in 2011 and the program has been very popular in the early days with most of the year booked out.

Students from local Gold Coast schools will then all come together to attend a culmination day at Metricon Stadium next week that will provide a wonderful experience for the hundreds of young students from all over the Gold Coast
