The Gold Coast SUNS have made one change to the AFLW team to take on Brisbane in the first ever women’s QClash at Metricon Stadium.
Northern Territory recruit Tayla Thorn has been called up to the side, replacing Sally Riley in the backline.
AFLW Senior Coach David Lake said Thorn would bring more balance to the team ahead of the crunch match against the Lions.
“She’s another strong rebounding defender and I felt like we played last week one defender short,” Lake said on the AFLW Coaches Chat, presented by Kool Kids Training College.
“Tayla’s been working really hard at her fitness and trying to get some consistency in the way that she trains.
“She’s a great kid and a great personality in our side and I know how much it must have been hurting her in those first couple of weeks so it’s good that she’ll get her opportunity.”
The match kicks off at 4:10pm local time, with gates opening from 3pm.
The AFLW QClash will be followed by the men’s Marsh Community Series match against Geelong at 6:40pm.
Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased through Ticketek here.
Members and fans who are unable to get to the AFLW game can watch it LIVE on Fox Footy, Kayo or 7Mate from 4pm AEST (check your local guides).
All matches are also streamed LIVE via www.womens.afl and the AFLW Official App.
