Jarrod Harbrow has been crowned the Gold Coast SUNS Club Champion.
After finishing second behind two-time winner Tom Lynch in 2016, Harbrow took out the 2018 award for the first time.
Amongst a host of other awards on the night, Harbrow was presented with the highest individual honour at the clubs annual awards night, held at Patron Partner, Southport Shark’s, on Saturday night.
Harbrow, who played all 22 games in 2018 was rewarded for his most consistent season at the club, which saw Harbrow also collect the Club’s Community and Players’ Player Awards, along with officially receiving Life Membership of the Club.
Ahead of playing his 150th AFL Game for the SUNS in Round 19, Chairman Tony Cochrane acknowledged that Harbrow would receive Life Membership and tonight he officially presented him as the first SUNS player to receive the award in the club’s short history.
Harbrow, polled 390 votes edging out Touk Miller (351) & first year SUN Lachie Weller (336).
In his fourth season at the club, Miller finished in the placings for the first time, reward in a year where he was asked to play a number of different roles on-field.In his first year at the club Weller stormed home in the second half of the season to secure a top three finish, with strong performances against St Kilda, Collingwood, North Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Gold Coast's five-man match committee award votes to an unlimited number of players per match. The voting process changed slightly in 2018 with each player being eligible to receive a maximum of ten votes from each individual member of the match committee, meaning the maximum number of votes a player can receive for any match is 50.
In previous years a player could only receive a maximum of five votes from an individual member of the match committee.
