ADELAIDE

Josh Jenkins (ankle) Back running after late-season surgery on his broken ankle. Will be on a modified program until Christmas but expected to be ready for round one.

Brent Reilly (shoulder) Progressing well from surgery on a dislocated shoulder but is unlikely to start competitive training until after Christmas. Should be fine for round one, but might miss NAB Challenge football.

Scott Thompson (hip) The veteran had cleanout surgery on his hip after it failed to heal on its own. He won't be able to train fully until January and, all things going to plan, will be available for round one.

Taylor Walker (knee) Has returned from the USA where he consulted a renowned knee specialist. Club still thinks he'll miss the full 12 months, so not expected back until at least round five.

BRISBANE LIONS
Jed Adcock (ankle) Had minor ankle surgery and will be available for the start of the pre-season program with the rest of the group.
 
Claye Beams (knee) Ruptured his left ACL during training in April. Has progressed well with his rehab and will also be available to participate fully in the pre-season program.
 
Justin Clarke (shoulder) Had surgery to repair his AC joint in August. Has begun running and working on modified skills and will be involved in elements of the program over in Arizona. Will be available for the start of the NAB Challenge.
 
James Polkinghorne (shoulder) Had minor shoulder surgery during the off-season and will participate fully in the pre-season program.  
 
Jonathan Brown (foot and knee) Had surgery to repair his torn plantar fascia in August followed by minor knee surgery. Has begun running and working on modified skills and will be involved in most elements of the program over in Arizona.
 
Daniel Merrett (leg) Had 10 screws and a plate put in his ankle after fracturing his fibula in round 22. To this point his rehab has gone smoothly and he will make the trip to Arizona with his teammates where he will begin running. Will join in full skills with the group after Christmas. 
 
Jackson Paine (shoulder) Had surgery on his right shoulder in October and is on track to be ready for the start of the NAB Challenge.
 
Daniel Rich (ankle) Had minor ankle surgery and will be available for the start of the pre-season program with the rest of the group.

CARLTON
Dale Thomas (ankle) Thomas received an optimistic outlook on his troublesome ankle injury and the club is confident he can take part in the Blues' December camp in Arizona and he ready for round one.

COLLINGWOOD
Alex Fasolo (foot) Played just three games in 2013 after fracturing his navicular bone, but had fully recovered by the end of the season and the Pies expect him on the track on Wednesday when the first- to fourth-year players begin pre-season training.
 
Alan Toovey (knee) The important defender has experienced no hiccups following ACL surgery in April, and while there is no timeframe on when the Pies expect to have him back, the hope is he will return early in the season. But they are pleased with his recovery and rehabilitation to date.
 
Dane Swan (wrist) The star midfielder attended various off-season events with his wrist in a cast. He is currently overseas, but the Pies expect him back on November 18 with the rest of the Collingwood veterans.
 
ESSENDON
Joe Daniher (knee) Daniher underwent surgery on his knee after the season but has been at the club training already and will be on the training camp in Lorne for the younger players in the first week of December.
 
Dyson Heppell (foot) The young midfielder had surgery on his foot at the end of the season but is one of the travelling party to Boulder for the club's altitude trip on November 30.
 
Michael Hurley (ankle) Hurley had an ankle reconstruction, as well as surgery on his wrist, post-season. He is now free of his moonboot and will also head to Colorado from the end of November to December 15.  

FREMANTLE 
Kepler Bradley (knee) Has been running since September after rupturing his ACL in round five against the Tigers. Will be eased into the pre-season but should progress well through the summer.

Jonathon Griffin (knee) Ruptured his ACL just two weeks after Bradley so the pair have been tracking well together. Griffin was ahead of Bradley when he started running in late August but like Bradley will be eased into his pre-season program.

Garrick Ibbotson (Achilles) Was a late withdrawal from the round-19 clash with Carlton with Achilles soreness and never recovered. He eventually had surgery in late September but he should be unrestricted through the pre-season.

Anthony Morabito (knee) Was progressing well mid-season following his LARS surgery in January but the club decided in August to abandon any plans of him playing in 2013 in order to focus on him doing a full pre-season, which he will do.

Clancee Pearce (Achilles) Injured his Achilles in round 23 and did not play in the finals series but will be fine to participate in a full pre-season.

GEELONG
Lincoln McCarthy (foot) Failed to play a game this year but was back in full training by the end of the season. Will be right to hit the ground running when the Cats begin their pre-season.

Hamish McIntosh (ankle) Another player who didn't make it onto the park this year, the ruckman will be eased into the pre-season. But the club insists that his injury woes appear to be behind him. 

Daniel Menzel (knee) Three months after undergoing his fourth knee reconstruction, the 22-year-old has headed off to the United States to spend a week working with renowned sports injury guru Bill Knowles. Having recently started running, Menzel is hoping to start training with his teammates in February. He is aiming to be declared fit to play by early June.

Dawson Simpson (knee) Missed the last two months of the 2013 season after suffering a medial ligament injury at a centre bounce. Is likely to be back in full training before Christmas.

GOLD COAST SUNS
Zac Smith (knee) The emerging star ruckman tore up his knee against the Western Bulldogs in Round eight and missed the rest of the year. He was granted early leave by the Club, so while his teammates have been on their end-of-season break, he has been back at the club in both the gym and on the track. He has just begun light ball work and will join his teammates in Arizona later this month, albeit on a modified program.

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY
Jonathon Patton (knee) Recovering from his second major knee injury, Patton was back running late in the season. He will be on a modified program pre-Christmas and integrated to full training in January ahead of his expected return in round one.

HAWTHORN
Ryan Schoenmakers (knee) The young key defender ruptured an ACL in round four, missing the rest of the season. He has had a good rehabilitation, and the club is hopeful he will be back playing early in the season.
 
Matt Suckling (knee) Suckling missed the 2013 season after rupturing an ACL during the NAB Cup. The defender began running midway through the season, and is hopeful of completing most of the pre-season.

Brendan Whitecross (knee) The midfielder was the heartbreak story of Hawthorn's premiership, rupturing the ACL in his right knee for a second time during the preliminary final win over Geelong. Has undergone a traditional reconstruction and will not be back on the field until mid-2014 at the earliest.
 
Alex Woodward (knee) Woodward ruptured his right ACL for a second time in January, and was back running by June. Like Suckling, he should be on track to complete most of the summer's training with a view to being on the field for the start of next season.

MELBOURNE
Mitch Clark (foot) Doing three sessions a week running, pulling up well and is now getting to football specific training. Will almost be in full training when he returns on November 18.

Chris Dawes (knee) Expected to run just before Christmas after undergoing knee surgery in late October. The positive is that he will have time to recover from niggling calf and hamstring issues.

Tom McDonald (shoulder) Underwent a post-season shoulder reconstruction to guard against future problems. Back running now and will need to avoid contact in the early part of the pre-season.

James Strauss (shoulder) Underwent a post-season shoulder reconstruction and will have a slightly delayed start to pre-season.

Jake Spencer (shoulder) Had an AC joint problem but is ahead of McDonald and Strauss in his rehabilitation.

Jesse Hogan (hyper-extended knee) Had longer than six weeks off but is back running and will begin training on November 6. He will be monitored early but should be ready to join in most activities.

Jordie McKenzie (groin) post-season surgery on his groin will mean he will be slightly behind where he might have otherwise been but he should resume running soon.  

NORTH MELBOURNE
Tom Curran (foot) The unlucky forward is still recovering after having a third round of surgery on his troublesome right foot in early August. He has been running on an Alter G (anti-gravity) treadmill, and it is hoped he will progress to full running around Christmas.
 
Majak Daw (knee) Daw had a posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction on his right knee in August. He will be able to participate in repetitive sprint work during the Kangaroos' pre-season camp in Utah from November 15, but his availability for round one of next season is still in doubt.
 
Andrew Swallow (Achilles) Swallow will be restricted to walking during the Utah trip, as he continues to rehabilitate the Achilles he ruptured in round 18. Coach Brad Scott has forecast the Kangaroos skipper may not be back on the field until the second half of 2014.

PORT ADELAIDE
Hamish Hartlett (shoulder) The gun midfielder had post-season surgery on the shoulder he injured against Gold Coast in round 21. His arm is out of a sling, but it's unlikely he'll partake in competitive training before Christmas.

Jack Hombsch (hip) After an impressive start to his career at the Power Hombsch could be restricted somewhat after hip surgery. After Christmas though he's expected to be training fully and fit for round one.

Tom Logan (thumb) The dogged defender had surgery on his thumb but has since had the cast removed. Logan will be able to run fully, but might need to be restrained competitively until his thumb has fully healed. 

RICHMOND
Reece Conca (hamstring) The young midfielder is recovering from a serious hamstring injury suffered in the Tigers' elimination final loss to Carlton. He underwent surgery in September and will be on limited duties through November and December. The 21-year-old is expected to progress into full training in January with a view to being available for round one.    

ST KILDA
Sean Dempster (knee) Carried a few injuries throughout the year. Needed minor surgery on his knee at the end of the season but should be ready to start pre-season on time.
 
Sam Fisher (toe) Had surgery on his degenerative toe joint in June after playing in pain for the first half of the season. Is already putting in some work at the club and is expected to be ready for the start of pre-season training.
 
James Gwilt (knee) Had issues with the left knee he had reconstructed in 2011 throughout the season and needed a clean out after his last game in round 20. Should be OK to start training with the group but will be on a modified program.
 
Tom Lee (shoulder) Had surgery on both shoulders after the season and is expected to come back on a modified program.
 
Daniel Markworth (knee) Highly rated youngster who needed a knee reconstruction in December last year after tearing in anterior cruciate ligament on the Colorado training camp. Ramped up his training towards the end of the season and will be ready to go in November.
 
Terry Milera (ankle) Didn't finish the season after breaking his ankle in the VFL in round 17. Had surgery but will be set to go in November, having already put in some time at the club.
 
Jack Newnes (shoulder) Had surgery after the season and will return on a modified program.
 
Nick Riewoldt (knee) Had a clean out operation on his degenerative left knee at season's end but is scheduled to start pre-season on time, albeit on a reduced program.
 
Adam Schneider (thumb) Had an operation on his thumb after playing his 200th game in round 23. Will start pre-season on time.
 
Tom Simpkin (lower leg) Had season-ending surgery in early August. Should be ready for pre-season training.
 
Arryn Siposs (shoulder) Had season-ending surgery in early August. Should be ready for pre-season training.
 
Rhys Stanley (collarbone) Had season-ending surgery in early August. Should be ready for pre-season training but will be on modified duties.
 
Spencer White (wrist) Like Milera, was hurt in the VFL towards the end of the season and had surgery on his wrist. Should also be ready to train in November but he may be on a modified program

SYDNEY SWANS
Adam Goodes (knee) Cut down by yet another knee injury, Goodes avoided surgery and will be limited to running and leg weights pre-Christmas. He will move into ball work in late January ahead of the new season.

Alex Johnson (knee) His first knee reconstruction failed, so he had a second bout of surgery in August, this time taking the hybrid-LARS option. He is progressing well and will start running on the Alter-G treadmill over the next couple of weeks to gradually build his strength.

Tom Mitchell (ankle) Underwent surgery on the torn ligaments he suffered in the semi-final victory over Carlton. He is on track to return for the start of pre-season training.

Sam Reid (quad) Unable to return to the field late in the season due to his persistent quad issue, he is back from an overseas trip and continuing his rehab and running program. Encouragingly, he hasn't had any recurrence of the problem since the end of the year.

Tommy Walsh (hamstring) After surgery on all three hamstring muscles he tore in round nine, he returned home to Ireland in the off-season and underwent a weights and running program over there. He is on track for a return at the start of next season.

WEST COAST
Brant Colledge (ankle) Season ended in July when he was sent for surgery in order to be right for pre-season. He is expected to participate fully.

Shannon Hurn (ankle) Badly damaged his ankle in the round 13 loss to Hawthorn but was a chance to play if West Coast made the finals. Will be fine for the pre-season.

Jeremy McGovern (hip) Required surgery in July in order to have the exciting key position prospect ready for day one of pre-season.

Nic Naitanui (groin) Was rested after round 17 and has been training hard on his own since season's end and will be ready for day one of the pre-season.

Beau Waters (shoulder) Had surgery in late August to be right for the pre-season but has suffered issues with it, requiring another operation in October and further recovery. His pre-season start date is unknown. 

WESTERN BULLDOGS
Shaun Higgins (foot) Had surgery on the navicular bone in his left foot in April, and will be carefully monitored when the club returns for pre-season training. The Bulldogs anticipate that he will do most of the training, but they will approach his recovery with caution.
 
Christian Howard (hip) The young Bulldog has had surgery on the hip that dogged him throughout 2013, and won't be able to train fully with the team. His progress will be monitored.
 
Clay Smith (knee) Has made great strides since injuring his anterior cruciate ligament in July, but won't be fit to resume full training just yet.
 
Tom Williams (shoulder) He's been unlucky with injuries throughout his career, but has bounced back from his shoulder reconstruction and will be fit to do 100 per cent of pre-season training.
