Bock and Rischitelli re-contracted
The Gold Coast SUNS have finalised contract extensions with experienced stars Nathan Bock and Michael Rischitelli.
General Manager Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft confirmed that the GC SUNS had extended Bock and Rischitelli’s contracts.
“We are pleased to have re-signed Nathan and Michael for an additional year and in doing so re-contracting our senior list for 2014.”
“Similar to Campbell Brown, the extension of Nathan and Michael ensures we have the right balance of age and experience on our list,” Ashcroft said.
Bock and Rischitelli joined the GC SUNS in 2011, joining the fledgling AFL club from the Adelaide Crows and Brisbane Lions respectively.
Both players had impressive first seasons, Bock finishing second in the best & fairest and Rischitelli third, though the pair has battled injuries in recent years.
Bock, 30, has played 140 games, however has managed just six games in the last two seasons after suffering a severe broken leg against Fremantle in Round 6, 2012.
He returned for two senior matches in 2013, but following consultation with club medial staff he underwent surgery to remove the titanium rod in his leg.
Rischitelli, 27, has played 157 games; he played 11 games in 2013 after he suffered a dislocated elbow against Essendon in round 12.
The injury restricted him but he forced his way back into the team to play the final two games of the season.
Bock and Rischitelli’s contract extensions mean the GC SUNS have contracted 37 senior players for 2014, and following November’s draft, where the GC SUNS will utilise selections 5, 20 and 27, the Club will have a full list of 40 senior players.
