GC SUNS Round 1 NAB Cup Squad
Gold Coaster Andrew Boston and elite youngsters Jesse Lonergan and Jack Martin are among the new recruits named in the 33-man Gold Coast SUNS squad for this Saturday night’s NAB Cup opener against the Brisbane Lions and Hawthorn at Metricon Stadium.
Boston, a former Broadbeach junior, will live out one of his AFL dreams representing the GC SUNS at home in front of a crowd filled with family and friends.
Meanwhile, it has been Lonergan’s fearless attack on the football that has impressed the GC SUNS over the summer, with the 18-year-old midfielder likely to push his case for early selection in the 2013 season with impressive performances through the NAB Cup.
Experienced recruits Tom Murphy (Hawthorn) and Greg Broughton (Fremantle) will make their first appearance in the red, gold and blue, while exciting teenager Jack Martin will also feature in the GC SUNS double-header after the AFL granted him permission to play in the pre-season competition.
GC SUNS senior coach Guy McKenna and his coaching staff will have the luxury of entering into the first week of the NAB Cup tournament with an extended squad, before taking the usual 22-man squad into the GC SUNS Round 2 NAB Cup clash against North Melbourne in Townsville on Saturday 1 March.
