Expect to hear plenty about the Gold Coast SUNS this week with the team joining forces with 92.5 Gold FM in a bid to build membership numbers ahead of the weekends NAB Cup opener against Hawthorn and the Brisbane Lions at Metricon Stadium.

While the GC SUNS “Massive Membership Sign-on Day” will take place this Friday, a handful of the clubs leading players spent time in the Gold FM studios today, recording messages aimed at prompting Gold Coasters to show their support for the club by signing up for a 2013 GC SUNS membership.

Former Hawthorn Premiership player Campbell Brown knows all too well that strong membership is the key to club success and urged all Gold Coast families and businesses to show their support on Friday.

“I am really confident that the group of players we have here at the Gold Coast SUNS are on the verge of achieving something really special for the club and for the City, but the reality is that we can’t achieve our on field goals, unless our fans convert their interest into memberships and I would love to see as many families and small businesses as possible pick up the phone this Friday, secure a membership and take your seat at Metricon Stadium in 2013 because I think it’s going to be a really exciting season,” Brown Said.

A membership call centre has been established at the GC SUNS Carrara head quarters ahead of Fridays telethon with players, coaching staff and the clubs administrative team manning the phones between 9am and 5pm to handle the expected influx of local support from AFL and sports fans across the region.

GC SUNS General Manager of Marketing, Community and Fan Development - Kelly Ryan, told goldcoastfc.com.au the sign-on day held significant importance for the club as they build towards achieving their 20-ONE-3 strategic vision of twenty thousand members and one premiership in the next three years.

“As a club we absolutely believe in and are committed to achieving the 20-ONE-3 vision and believe that it will allow the GC SUNS to be extremely successful over a sustained period of time, while the positive impact for the entire City will be enormous and shared by everyone who lives and does business here.”

“While the players, coaches and staff are working tirelessly towards reaching our goal in the gym and on the playing field, it’s the support of the Gold Coast community that is central to the success of the vision.”

GOLD FM will also broadcast from the telethon live throughout the morning, while crowd favourite Sunny Ray has a host of giveaways and prizes to visitors who sign up for a 2013 GC SUNS membership through the SUNS Merchandise Shop.
