Gold Coast SUNS Foundation Member Andy Tulloch is planning to give his son Alex the surprise of a lifetime in Townsville tomorrow night with thirteen year old Alex selected to be the lucky junior mascot and run out with the GC SUNS ahead of their round two NAB Cup match against North Melbourne.

The pair will make the 4-hour drive from Cairns to watch their beloved GC SUNS along with mum Sue and Alex's twin-sister Indi (pictured).

Despite growing up an avid Sydney Swans supporter, Andy Tulloch said Alex had an immediate change of heart after the GC SUNS travelled to Cairns for their VFL match against the Ballarat Bombers in 2009, where he got to see some the clubs emerging stars in action for the first time.

"Since the SUNS first came to Cairns he's become a proud supporter for the red, gold and blue," said Tulloch.

"He definitely looks up to local football superstars Charlie Dixon and Jarrod Harbrow, and is eager to see how Jaeger O'Meara performs this year."

Tulloch said his daughter Indi has also adopted the GC SUNS after getting a special meeting with club Captain Gary Ablett following the SUNS after the siren victory over Richmond in Cairns last season.

"Indi was lucky enough to meet with Gary up close and personal last year which she really appreciated," Tulloch said.

"These things go a very long way for Far North Queensland fans and have resulted in giving the GC SUNS such a positive name up here in North Queensland, it really is a credit to the boys and the Club around them."
