Join us this week as we take a look back at all the best Round 17 moments throughout AFL/VFL history. 

In 2002, on a night Richmond farewelled one of their longest-serving stalwarts, it was GC SUNS assistant coach Dean Solomon and his Essendon teammates who crashed the party, Paul Salmon sticking the dagger in the hearts of Tigers fans across the country, the Bomber’s big man kicking the deciding goal in the crucial stages of their seven-point victory at the MCG.

In that same week, NEAFL SUNS coach Shaun Hart playing in the Brisbane Lions 2002 Premiership side were locked in a fierce battle with Hawthorn in front of a boisterous crowd at the MCG. Star forward Jonathon Brown providing one of the game’s highlights – courageously going back with the flight of the ball to take what has become one of his most memorable marks. 

Fast forward to 2009 and watch as Gary Ablett and his Geelong team mates secured one of the greatest victories in clubs history – our very own Malcolm Blight commentated the affair right to the final siren with Jimmy Bartel kicking the winning score in a classic that has since added to a serious of famous victories against the Hawks.
