Karmichael Hunt addressed leading Gold Coast business figures on Tuesday at the Gold Coast Community Fund (GCCF) launch at the Southport Sharks Events Centre.

Leading the event’s proceedings, Hunt took to the stage to share his experiences and stories created from his involvement as ambassador for the GCCF, before reaffirming his desire to stay actively involved with the local community partner long-term.

“The work the Gold Coast Community Fund does is fantastic, and the more work we can do out in the community the better,” said Hunt.

“I’m pretty happy to be aligned with such a positive community entity, and will definitely be looking to continue my relationship going forward.”

GCCF Chairman – Simon Bennett, said the Fund’s overarching committee welcomed the formal partnership with the GC SUNS, with the partnership potentially lifting the community entity’s profile and further benefiting more of those in need around the Gold Coast.

“We started to do a few things with the GC SUNS, and then formed a formal partnership with the club last year,” said Bennett.

“Personally I have loved dealing with the GC SUNS – as a Fund they’ve been fantastic to deal with and the incredible White Christmas event at MovieWorld has been an absolutely amazing event with more than 3,500 thousand people at MovieWorld enjoying a Christmas they may not have had the chance to have, so that was just fantastic.”

Bennett said the Fund and its volunteers felt as though they had struck gold in securing Hunt as the organisation’s community ambassador.

“While he’s an elite sportsman and a wonderful AFL player, he’s just simply such a great bloke and I think that’s important for the fund to have someone who is a genuinely nice fellow,” Bennett said.

“The comments and discussions I’ve had with him are; “We won’t take too much of your time Karmichael”, and his response are always “No – if there’s something you need me to do just let me know” which makes it so much easier knowing he actually wants to get involved.”

“The GC SUNS have been fantastic to deal with and their attitude towards community is just a pleasure.”
