The Gold Coast Football Club’s first day of pre-season training for the 2010 season commenced today (Monday 9 November) with an influx of new players joining the squad.
The 2010 training squad gathered at Carrara where they undertook medical and fitness testing before undertaking a 2km time trial. Coach McKenna then produced the footballs and the squad spent 20 minutes handballing and kicking before the session ended. The squad will train three days a week up until Christmas before having a short break and returning in early January to prepare for the VFL season.
Some familiar names joining the cream of Queensland’s young talent include Ablett, Tippett and Matera (Nathan, Joel and Brandon). The Queensland players have been joined by a group of players from around Australia representing the best young talent in the game. The final group will come together over the next month and will represent the core players who will go forward to the inaugural AFL competition in 2011.
