The Gold Coast SUNS Charity Open Day provided an opportunity for around 30 attendees from both the government sector and all 10 of our Gold Coast SUNS nominated charities (in the three areas of Youth Homelessness, Domestic Violence and the North Gold Coast region), to come together for an informative update of what the Gold Coast SUNS are doing in the Community in 2012 and how it benefits their charity.

Here is a list of our 10 nominated charities : http://goldcoastfc.com.au/community/charity-partners/

In 2012, all 10 of the Gold Coast SUNS charity partners will receive through the support of the Club:

  • A signed 2012 Gold Coast SUNS jumper
  • Ticketing to attend a Gold Coast SUNS game in 2012 for those in need and their carers
  • Allocated player ambassadors
  • Player and staff appearances
  • Raised awareness of their sector / charity through media / activity
  • Funding opportunities through both the White Christmas Charity Fund and the Gold Coast Community Fund
  • Tickets to the White Christmas Charity event

As a new initiative for 2012, today we invited the 6 player ambassadors in these 3 pillar areas to attend this mornings open day and meet their nominated charities. As pointed out by one of our Youth Homeless charities, the highlight of their morning was to meet “their guy” (on this occasion it was Anne Ellis of YHES House referring to Youth Homeless ambassadors Jared Brennan and Tom Hickey).

The players acquitted themselves in such a professional manner and individually introduced themselves and talked about their area they support as an ambassador and why it was important to them, which received a strong round of applause.
