The Gold Coast SUNS have selected Tasmanian teenager, Jess Lonergan with selection 13 in the 2012 AFL draft held on the Gold Coast.
The Tasmanian is a lot like his uncle Sam, a former Bomber, but has a more explosive streak that helps him not only win the ball in a contest, but then burst away from it. He's physically ready, too, with a man's body and senior experience for Launceston, where he debuted as a 15-year-old.
The SUNS had been linked to Lonergan and see him as a replacement for Josh Caddy.
The 182cm midfielder joins elevated rookie, Kyal Horsley, local access player Clay Cameron along with teenage sensation Jack Martin at the SUNS.
