Tune into SUNS TV (on your right of screen) to watch the 5K member visit unfold
Karmichael Hunt has helped celebrate the Gold Coast SUNS milestone, of reaching 5,000 members by surprising one lucky member who had renewed their membership for 2012.
Fiona Thompson, the lucky GC SUNS member, was shocked after answering a knock at the door, only to find Hunt her favourite SUNS player standing there with a special gift in hand.
The visit, captured by SUNS TV, was designed to celebrate and recognise the passion of Gold Coast AFL supporters as the Club raced past the 5,000 members mark and to celebrate, Karmichael presented Fiona with a special 5K emblazoned Guernsey.
The GC SUNS aim to build its membership base 5K at a time with a goal of reaching 10K by Christmas.
Karmichael’s visit surprised everyone at Fiona’s house, including her husband Robert and daughter Amber.
“It’s not everyday that you answer the door and Karmichael Hunt is standing there, I was a bit shocked to be honest.”
Fiona said her family were big SUNS supporters.
“We are huge SUNS fans, we moved from Adelaide where we were Crows fans but have now switched to become SUNS members and are really looking forward to next year.”
“When I heard the knock at the door I certainly didn’t expect to see Karmichael standing there! I’m look forward to wearing my new guernsey to the first game against the Crows.”
Karmichael said that his visit was designed to thank all 5,000 members that have already renewed for 2012.
“All the boys really appreciate the support we received from our members in 2011 and can’t wait to see all our members together in the stands in 2012.
“On behalf of all the team we want to thank our members who have signed up already and showed their commitment to the club and to encourage those who are yet become members to join the team and sign up now. You never know, you could be the next one to get a knock on your door!”
