The Gold Coast SUNS today trained in white jumpers in a bid to raise awareness for White Ribbon.
The entire GC SUNS playing list donned the jumpers during the 90 minute skills session on the training field at Metricon Stadium.
Speaking to media following the session White Ribbon and Gold Coast SUNS Respect and Responsibility Ambassadors, Zac Smith and Daniel Gorringe said the team was committed to supporting White Ribbon and raisingawareness where possible.
“As a Club it is great to see all of the boys don the White Jumpers to Raise Awareness for Domestic Violence,” Gorringe said.
“This is one of many activities we have done as part of the two weeks of activity we have participated in around White Ribbon week.”
Zac Smith said he was proud to be the GC SUNS Ambassador for White Ribbon.
“Dan, Josh and I are proud to be ambassadors in this area and have enjoyed participating in some work in this area with our domestic violence charities.”
Smith declared he and his teammates could make a difference in this space, not only this week, but all year.
“As players we can make a difference by, talking about it, tweeting about it and helping to raise awareness through the work we do, and if we can do this, it really helps increase awareness of this serious issue.”
On top of the GC SUNS wearing the white jumpers at training, Smith recently attended the White Ribbon Golf Day and Paradise Kids young boys mentor program, while Gorringe travelled to Sydney in August to attend a major White Ribbon event and last weekend attended the Qld Government Domestic Violence Prevention Awards on the Gold Coast.
