Gold Coast SUNS key defender Rory Thompson will make his return from injury this week when he takes the field in the club’s scratch match on Thursday.
All players got through the Round 9 AFL and scratch matches on Sunday afternoon without injury and will be available for selection ahead of Round 10 fixtures.
This weekend will mark a significant milestone for the inaugural SUN Thompson who will officially return after tearing his ACL last season.
“Rory worked really hard throughout the course of last year to get himself ready to go,” Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull told the Qscan Injury Update.
“When he came back, he was just about ready to go and injured his other knee, he’s done really well with his recovery since then and stayed positive throughout.”
“We’re about five and a half weeks post his arthroscopic surgery on his right knee (non-ACL).”
“He will play in the scratch match we’ve got organised for Thursday which is really pleasing.
The Gold Coast match committee will have plenty to choose from this week with a 48 of a possible 51 players available for selection.
As reported last week Luke Towey made a successful return from his fractured eye socket in the club’s scratch match against a combined Western Bulldogs and Richmond side on Sunday afternoon.
