Jy Farrar has been named to make his AFL debut tomorrow afternoon as the SUNS get set to take on Hawthorn in the final round of the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
Farrar becomes the seventh player to make their debut for the Gold Coast SUNS this season.
The 23-year-old, 190cm, hard running forward said he can’t wait to run out onto the Adelaide Oval with his fellow teammates.
“I’ve been working really hard for this, I’m really glad I’ve gotten the opportunity and I just can’t wait to get out there with my teammates,” Farrar said.
The mature-age recruit is originally from Halls Creek, in far north Western Australia, a region that has produced some of the game’s most exciting talent in recent years.
Players such as Sam Petrevski-Seton (Carlton), Shane McAdam (Adelaide), Cedric Cox (Brisbane), Toby Bedford (Melbourne), Irving Mosquito (Essendon), Francis Watson (West Coast) and Isaiah Butters (Fremantle have all hailed from the remote town and are currently pursing AFL careers.
Farrar was taken with pick 60 in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft and has strung together a strong run of form in the club’s recent scratch matches.
Farrar’s debut will be broadcast live on 7mate in Queensland, Fox Footy and can be live streamed on Kayo and Telstra AFL Live Pass platforms.
