Finishing second in Gold Coast’s 2020 Club Champion, Touk Miller continued his rise with his best season in the AFL.

The SUNS vice-captain finished just four votes shy of eventual winner Sam Collins, a huge achievement for the 24-year-old.

Miller played all 17 games for the SUNS this season, averaging 20 disposals (team-high) and four clearances per game.

His tremendous consistency was evidenced by his polling of Club Champion votes in 15 games, the most of any other player on the night.

Miller’s versatility has been a key feature of his game in 2020.

He has a proven ability as a defensive midfielder but has developed his game by adding more offensive flair this season to be a dual-threat in the middle of the ground.

To go with his Club Champion Runner-Up, Miller also claimed the Hostplus Most Professional award and the Players’ Player award – which he shared with David Swallow – to cap off a successful 2020 season.

Stat that matters:
Miller rated elite in the competition in tackles, with his 88 for the year (at an average of 5.2 per game) ranking him fifth in the AFL in that stat. 

Best performance:
Miller’s best game came in Round 10 against St Kilda. The midfielder finished with 18 disposals, seven tackles and two goals while also having five clearances in the tight four-point loss.

Moment of the season:
He had a number of impressive games, but winning the Players’ Player award at the conclusion of the season would have to be Miller’s favourite moment of the season. It’s the second straight year he’s won the accolade, tying with David Swallow once again in 2020. It’s a highly-coveted award and Miller said it was his favourite of the night, knowing he has the belief and the respect of the playing group behind him.
