Voting is now open for the Austworld Player of the Round after Saturday night’s narrow Round 4 defeat against Carlton at Metricon Stadium.
Touk Miller was at his vintage best from siren to siren and didn’t seem to stop running for the entire contest. Not only did he rack up 28 disposals with a team-high six inside 50s, his work off the ball was simply sublime, making a game-high 13 tackles, and amazingly, a single hitout as well.
Only marginally pipped in that category was Hugh Greenwood whose 10 tackles is just the beginning of a strong performance from the versatile midfielder. Winning plenty of the ball with 27 disposals, an equal game-high 10 clearances, 18 contested possessions and a neat goal in the third term as well.
Noah Anderson continues to flourish in his second AFL season. The 20-year-old won the ball when it needed to be won and made an impact when distributing. He finished with 30 disposals, 10 clearances and a team-high six score involvements.
Jack Bowes continued his fine start to 2021 with a game-high 34 disposals, with 13 of those coming in the first quarter alone. He comfortably led the game for metres gained to go with an equal team-high nine marks.
The man alongside Bowes with nine marks was Lachie Weller who certainly was pumped with his goal which drew the scores level in the third quarter. He had 26 disposals along with three tackles and three clearances.
Alex Sexton led all comers in impacting on the scoreboard for the SUNS, kicking two goals in the second quarter and unselfishly dishing off to Brandon Ellis following another mark inside forward 50 in the fourth quarter.
Ellis himself had plenty of impact around the ground winning plenty of the ball yet again, finishing with 26 disposals to go with eight marks and four clearances.
Sam Collins had a task on his hands and battled valiantly against a tall Carlton forward line, regularly standing tall and limiting the influence of the Blues' key targets.
Who's your pick for the Austworld Player of the Round for Round 4?
