Three Gold Coast SUNS players have earned selection in the final AFL Players’ Association 22Under22 team.
Ben King, Jack Lukosius and Wil Powell have all been voted into the final side which was announced by the AFLPA this morning.
It’s the second time King and Lukosius have made the team, while the selection is Powell’s first.
King had a career-best season in 2021, finishing tied-seventh in the Coleman Medal after kicking 47 goals in his 22 games this year.
He was selected at full forward in the final team.
After spending time in all areas of the ground this season, Lukosius ended the year ranked elite in inside 50’s, score involvements, marks and metres gained.
The 21-year-old claims a spot on the wing after averaging 20 disposals and eight marks per game in 2021 and finishing second in the AFL for total metres gained.
Powell has been named in the back pocket after a standout year in defence for the SUNS.
The 22-year-old has averaged 18 disposals and five marks per game while playing on some of the most dangerous forwards in the competition this season.
