The Gold Coast SUNS reserves outplayed Redlands on Sunday in what was the SUNS best four quarter performance of the year.
After jumping out of the blocks in the first quarter, we were strongly challenged and outscored in the second term.
Throughout the second half our boys continually out-numbered the opposition in attack and defence and the result was a string of goals from fast and clean ball movement.
There are certainly signs of continuous improvement from our team in terms of understanding how to execute our game plan, particularly our ability to defend and take the ball off the opposition in our forward half of the ground.
Our backline was resolute with a new face, Rory Thompson, leading the way at Centre Half Back.
Seb Tape and Captain Marc Lock were also amongst our best six players with Jeremy Taylor, Joel Tippett and Josh Toy all prominent contributors also.
Joey Daye had one of his best games. Winning plenty of contested footy, and outside run and carry to set our forwards up all day.
Liam Patrick (4 goals) and Harley Bennell used their run to break the game open throughout.
Nathan Ablett and Jack Stanley each kicked four and our local top up players also need a special as they all made very good contributions.
Our focus for this week's game was to increase our voice.
When our squad gets an understanding of communication being one of our greatest weapons on the field the leadership and performance within our team will increase significantly.
Specifically, we asked our players to encourage, direction and challenge each other more.
Next Saturday we face Southport at Shark Park and they have just started to get going with a terrific win against Canberra's best team Ainslie this week.
The game is at 2 pm and with the senior team in Perth this is a great opportunity for our fans to come and support us locally.
Hope to see and hear you there.
Go GC SUNS!
