Young ruckman Ned Moyle has signed a two-year contract extension at the Gold Coast SUNS, extending his stay until at least the end of 2024.

Moyle joined the SUNS in 2021 after being the 5th pick in the 2021 NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

The 20-year-old said he was excited to continue to develop and grow at the SUNS.

“I’m really happy here at the Gold Coast, it’s a really positive atmosphere and a great group we have that’s really connected,” Moyle said.

“Since joining the club midway through last year I feel like I have learnt a lot from the other players and coaches and I am excited to continue my development.

“I didn’t get to play too much last year but, that just makes me all the more excited to get into it this season and hopefully push for my AFL debut.”

Moyle’s 2021 was disrupted by COVID and the young ruck is now looking forward to progressing his career at the SUNS.

He impressed in the SUNS’ first VFL match in a victory against Northern Bullants, recording 44 hitouts and 12 disposals.

GC SUNS General Manager of Player Talent and Strategy Craig Cameron sees the signing of Moyle as important for the long-term list strategy for the club.

“We identified Ned as a player who could add depth to our ruck stocks when we drafted him last year and we’ve been really impressed with what he has been able to produce so far,” Cameron said.

“He’s been able to compete really well against some experienced opposition this year which we are excited to see more of in the future.”

Moyle played in the practice match against Port Adelaide in the pre-season in place of captain Jarrod Witts and performed admirably.

It’s Your Club. It’s My Club. It’s Ned Moyle’s Club.
