The Gold Coast SUNS welcome the release of the Palaszczuk Government’s response to the Stadiums Queensland Taskforce Interim Report where recommendations were made to improve the operations of Stadiums Queensland’s venues.

The taskforce, comprising of industry and commercial experts and chaired by experienced sports administrator John Lee, had presented government with 17 recommendations in its initial report, some of which help the Gold Coast SUNS grow its business significantly.

Gold Coast SUNS CEO, Mark Evans, welcomed the Palaszczuk Government’s response.

“The Palaszczuk Government’s response to the Stadiums Queensland Taskforce Interim Report is a promising outcome for our young club,” Evans said.

“We’re a community-based sporting organisation that’s trying to grow the sport on the Gold Coast and after a number of years of fighting for change we welcome the outcomes announced today.

“These discussions with government have been on-going for some time and we have fought hard to get to this point and we thank and acknowledge the Palaszczuk Government, Sports Minister Mick de Brenni and members of the Stadium Taskforce, headed by John Lee, for their understanding and support.”

The final Stadiums Taskforce Report will form part of the Palaszczuk Government’s Sport and Active Recreation Strategy, due to be finalised toward the end of the year.
