SUNS midfielder Alex Davies is set for a short-term stint on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury on the weekend.
Davies was substituted out of the match against Port Adelaide, with scans revealing an injury to his medial collateral ligament which will require at least three weeks to rehabilitate.
“Alex unfortunately sustained an MCL injury in the game on Sunday, he had scans earlier this week and we’ll now work with him on a rehabilitation program,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull told the Qscan Injury Update.
One last hurdle stands between Jack Lukosius and his long-awaited return to football, with the Gold Coast SUNS medical team set to determine his availability at main training this week.
The talented utility, who recently put pen to paper in a long term deal with the SUNS, has been rehabilitating a knee injury that he sustained in Round 8 against the Swans.
The South Australian is joined by Connor Budarick (hamstring) who is also listed as a test ahead of this weekend’s game.
“Jack has been progressing really well and we will work with him to assess where he is at, with the view to play this weekend,” Bull said.
“Connor suffered a hamstring injury last fortnight but has been showing strong signs of improvement.
“We will increase his load and monitor how he goes in the main training session before determining his availability for this weekend.”
