Two Gold Coast SUNS players turned coaches’ heads on Saturday night with both Izak Rankine and Touk Miller tying for first in the AFLCA Votes in Round 16.
Miller and Rankine received seven votes each, alongside Collingwood’s Josh Daicos and Nick Daicos for the match.
The nod sees Miller rise in the overall leader board to now rank equal third in the competition.
The SUNS Co-captain saw 30 touches (18 contested), as well as a match-high 10 tackles and 10 clearances in the physical match that went down to the wire.
He now sits behind just Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver (83 votes) and Brisbane Lions’ Lachie Neale (68 votes) in this season’s voting so far – with 65 votes of his own alongside Melbourne’s Christian Petracca.
Rankine’s performance was punctuated by a Goal of the Year nomination, for one of his four majors.
Eight score involvements further illustrates the 22-year-old’s influence on the match for the SUNS.
The SUNS battled hard but eventually were defeated by Collingwood by five points.
