With just three games remaining in the NEAFL season, the Gold Coast SUNS reserves will look to consolidate their position in the top six when they take on the Sydney Swans at the SCG on Friday evening.
After last week’s 89-point win over the Brisbane Lions, the SUNS snuck into the top six on percentage (24 points, 84.99%), narrowly ahead of Redland (24, 83.38%), Ainslie (22, 84.97%) and Southport (20, 90.84%).
With games against Eastlake (10th) and Ainslie (8th) still to come, Gold Coast could all but guarantee their first taste of September action with a win in the Harbour City.
It won’t be an easy proposition though, with Sydney currently sitting ahead of the SUNS in 5th position on the ladder.
Jarred Ellis has passed a concussion test to return to the side, while Sean Lemmens and Henry Schade come back into the team after being omitted from the seniors.
