AFL Indigenous Ambassador Jarrod Harbrow and rest of the Gold Coast SUNS indigenous stars met with over 100 Gold Coasters on Sunday, as the Club celebrates and launches the second annual No Boundaries Gala Day at Metricon Stadium.

Joined alongside by Harley Bennell, Steven May, Brandon Matera, Liam Patrick, Timmy Sumner and Jack Martin, the 25-year-old Harbrow drove the program’s key messages to the students and their families in attendance – preaching the importance of healthy eating, education and leading an active lifestyle through team sports such as AFL.

With the continued support of Medicare Local, Kalwun Health, Quiksilver Foundation and DATSIMA (the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Multicultural Affairs), the GC SUNS have been able to reach over 80 Grade 6 and 7 students from the city’s northern and southern regions through the mentoring program.

It was an entertaining afternoon of fun for the students, with a cooking demonstration and boomerang throwing.

GC SUNS Diversity Engagement Officer Michael Gugliotta told goldcoastfc.com.au that the No Boundaries Program had become an integral community initiative for the program’s students and the wider Gold Coast community.

“The No Boundaries Program is an important part of our indigenous partnership program on the Gold Coast, and has been met with positive feedback from the students, their families and their school community.”

“The event, in only its second year, has taken off and looks to be building stronger with each school visit.”
