The votes are in, and Gold Coast rebounding defender Kade Kolodjashnij has been chosen as one of the youngsters most likely to become a star of the game this season.

As part of the AFL Players’ Top 50 vote, players from all clubs rank their peers and Kolodjashnij has been earmarked as a breakout star of 2016.

Pulling in 11 per cent of the vote, the young SUN was just one per cent behind St Kilda’s Jack Billings. Third place went to Fremantle’s Tommy Sheridan on eight per cent, with the top five rounded out by Geelong’s Cam Guthrie and Essendon’s Zach Merrett on seven and six per cent respectively.

Kolodjashnj’s star power is no secret to SUNS supporters.

The 20-year-old was one of the most consistent performers across the 2015 season, averaging 22.3 disposals at an efficiency rate of 75 per cent.

Having recently signed a contract extension that will see him call Metricon Stadium home until the end of 2018, Kolodjashnij is set to go from strength-to-strength wearing the red and gold.
