A new coterie group, Woman of the SUNS has today been revealed by the Gold Coast SUNS.
GC SUNS CEO Travis Auld, who signalled that the club would launch the women’s coterie group following a successful ladies lunch in July 2012, said the SUNS were looking forward to building the group.
“It’s time to step it up, after an overwhelming response to our inaugural ladies lunch we have decided its time to start Women of the SUNS,” Auld said.
"We couldn't have been happier with how the event earlier in the year, we have so many great female fans and it is really important for us to recognise their contribution to our club and provide them an opportunity to mix socially or professionally."
The Women of the SUNS will hold their first function on Thursday December 13 at Vie Bar and Restaurant, on the boardwalk at Palazzo Versace.
"It promises to be a very enjoyable event and I am sure members of the Women of the SUNS members will have a night to remember," Auld said.
Few clubs have captured the imagination of the fairer sex as successfully as the GC SUNS.
38 per cent of the club's members are female, up on the league average of 35 per cent and 50 per cent of their staff are women.
Of the 300 people that work at the club or as Metricon Stadium staff, more than 150 are female.
And more than 94,000 women play Australian Football around the country, 13,000 of those are here in Queensland.
