The GC SUNS re-joined the winner’s circle with a 26-point win over St Kilda and now it’s time to pick your Austworld Player of the Round.
Jack Lukosius was perfect in front of the sticks, kicking four goals straight as one of two multiple goal kickers for the SUNS, the other being Rory Atkins who had one of his best afternoons in SUNS colours finishing with 32 touches and eight marks.
No SUNS player had more touches or contested possessions that Sam Flanders who was everywhere in midfielder, complemented by strong outings from Noah Anderson (25 disposals, seven clearances) and Matt Rowell (22 touches, six tackles).
Rowell led the game for tackles alongside Jarrod Witts who was immense in the ruck battle against Rowan Marshall, making 39 hitouts.
In defence, Wil Powell (13 intercept possessions) and Ben Long patrolled half-back with purpose and regularly launched the SUNS clear of defensive 50. Mac Andrew was influential both win and without the ball, as was Sam Collins.
Ben Ainsworth’s pressure didn’t waver throughout and was duly rewarded with 21 disposals and a first-quarter goal.
