The Gold Coast SUNS will be without a hard-working forward for the remaining two matches of 2023.
Nick Holman has sustained an injury to the lateral collateral ligament (LCL) in his left knee and will be unavailable for the remainder of the season.
“Nick injured his knee in the first quarter against Sydney after kicking a goal and colliding with his opponent,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull told the Qscan Injury Update.
“Further assessment post-match has revealed an injury to his lateral collateral ligament in his knee.
“The recovery timeline for the grade of Nick’s injury is typically four to six weeks, so Nick will be fully available for the 2024 pre-season.”
SUNS key forward Ben King missed the Round 22 match with knee soreness, with Bull saying the 23-year-old was a good chance to return this weekend.
“Ben has had a heavy workload this year in his first season back since injuring his knee and has been playing through some knee soreness over the last six weeks,” Bull said.
“It was a good opportunity to give him last week to recover, we expect him to train tomorrow and he will be a test for this weekend’s match against Carlton.”
Joel Jeffrey and Bodhi Uwland both remain two weeks away from a return as the SUNS VFL squad prepares for its finals campaign.
