The Gold Coast SUNS have invited Jack Peris and Aiden Bonar to train with the club through the Supplementary Selection Period (SSP).
Peris joins the SUNS after being delisted by St Kilda in September, where he played for two seasons.
The 19-year-old is a Northern Territorian who joined the Saints as a Next Generation Academy player from Nightcliff in the NTFL.
Peris played one game for the Saints, against the SUNS in Round 18, 2023.
He possesses blistering speed and is the son of Olympic Gold Medallist Nova Peris OAM.
Bonar has played six seasons in the AFL after being drafted at pick 11 by GWS in 2017.
The midfielder-turned-defender played six games in two seasons with the Giants before being traded to North Melbourne, where he played 28 games in four seasons until being delisted after the 2023 season.
Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Player Talent & Strategy Craig Cameron said he was eager to see what the two players could bring to the club.
“We have been successful in adding a number of players through the SSP in recent years so wanted to take the opportunity to invite Jack and Aiden to train with us throughout pre-season,” Cameron said.
“Both have been in the AFL system for a number of years, so we are interested to see how they adapt in a new environment at the SUNS.”
Under AFL rules, clubs are permitted to leave list spots open and invite up to two players per vacancy to train throughout pre-season and audition for a place on the club’s Rookie List.
Clubs have two windows to formally sign a player via the SSP: November 27 – December 14 and January 15 – February 19.
The SUNS have previously recruited Sam Fletcher, James Tsitas, Jed Anderson and Brodie McLaughlin via the SSP.
Both Peris and Bonar will report for the first day of SUNS pre-season on Monday November 27.
