The ‘Saady Army’ on the Gold Coast has grown in 2017, with SUNS defender Adam Saad being joined in Southeast Queensland by younger brother Muhammad.

The younger Saad was overlooked in both this year’s National and Rookie Drafts despite being listed as a Category B rookie by Essendon, and will now turn his attention to playing for Gold Coast’s NEAFL team as he looks to follow in his older brother’s footsteps of making it onto an AFL list as a mature-aged recruit.

“My brother’s come up and he’s going to spend the year with us on the Gold Coast,” Saad told SUNS TV.

“It’s really good having some support and having him up as well, teach him a few things about living away from home and living by yourself so it’s going to be good.

“I’m probably the better looking sibling but he’s going to come up, play in our NEAFL side and just gain that experience. He played with (Calder) Cannons in the TAC Cup in Melbourne so having him up, it’ll get the family up a bit more to the Gold Coast and visit us so it’s going to be good.”

Having his younger brother close by will help the 22-year-old balance life and football, which will hopefully translate onto the field.

“(It will help with finding) the right balance off the field and on the field,” Saad said.

“I play footy, that’s my job but to go home and just switch off sort of thing. Play Playstation or do things like that so it’s going to be good to have him up.”
