It was the biggest winning margin in the Gold Coast SUNS history, their first in Victoria and more importantly, it was the first time the GC SUNS had collected premiership points at the home of AFL football, the MCG.

Three players down following injuries to Jared Brennan, Tom Murphy and with Steven May subbed out of the match with severe cramping, the win was scored under significant adversity and there were certainly plenty of signs that Guy McKenna's SUNS are a team on the rise.

The result against the Demons follows wins over the GWS Giants and St Kilda to see the Gold Coasters 13th on the premiership ladder with 12 points separated only on percentages behind North Melbourne, Carlton, West Coast Eagles and the Adelaide Crows.

With three wins in 2013, the GC SUNS have equalled their seasonal tallies from 2011 where they defeated the Port Adelaide, the Brisbane Lions and Richmond and 2012 when the team posted wins against Richmond, The GWS Giants and Carlton.

Importantly they've now won nine games across six different venues, with the MCG joining Metricon Stadium, Manuka Oval, Cazaly's Stadium, AAMI Stadium and the Gabba as places they've sung their victory song.

And with return matches against the Lions at the Gabba, the Tigers in Cairns and GWS Giants at Metricon Stadium to be played, the Club's members would have every right to expect there should be more post match celebrations to come in 2013.

The Club's next opportunity presents itself in the shape of the Western Bulldogs at Metricon Stadium this Saturday afternoon.

While the Dogs currently reside below the home team on the points table, their performance against North Melbourne on the weekend suggests they will be a much tougher challenge than the Demons proved to be on Sunday.
