Matt Rowell’s barnstorming showing against the Tigers has fired him into an early lead in the Coaches Assocation’s Champion Player of the Award.
Both Damien Hardwick and Tigers coach Adam Yze recognised Rowell’s 20-clearance, 33-disposal outing as best-on-ground with the 23-year-old one of two players from across the league in opening round to poll a perfect 10 votes.
Wil Powell’s strong performance across half-back earned him four votes from each coach as one of eight SUNS players to poll votes.
Co-captains Touk Miller and Jarrod Witts polled three apiece while Ben King’s five goals earned him a pair of votes, as did Sam Flanders’ work in the engine room.
Defending Club Champion Noah Anderson and runner-up Sam Collins both started their campaigns on song, earning a vote each.
