Young stars Katie Lynch and Charlotte Wilson have locked in their futures on the Gold Coast, signing multi-year deals with the SUNS.
Lynch, a Season Seven All-Australian, will remain in the red, blue and gold until at least the end of 2027 while experienced key defender Wilson has committed for the next two campaigns.
The duo were both part of an AFLW record 11-team trade during December’s AFLW trade period, which also saw the club acquire the pick that was used to select Coorparoo product Taya Oliver.
Lynch is a former first-round pick and has played 42 games across six seasons for both Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.
22-year-old Wilson has played 30 games at both Carlton and Melbourne, including the 2019 AFLW Grand Final, and will be looking to build her presence as a core part of the SUNS defensive unit.
“Both Katie and Charlotte are experienced beyond their years and have already made a really positive impact on our playing group since joining in last year’s Trade Period,” GC SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago said.
“Both players have plenty of AFLW experience under their belts, and still have so much of their football careers to look ahead to.”
“They’ve been fantastic additions to our playing group off-field and we’re really excited to seeing the impact they can have on-field this season and beyond.”
The duo join a growing list of SUNS players who have signed multi-year contracts with the club including Claudia Whitfort, Lucy Single and Lauren Bella, all of whom have committed through until 2027.
