A win over the Lions allows the SUNS to stay in touch with the finals race, and adding extra importance to the fixture, SUNS vice-captain Noah Anderson will also play in his 100th AFL game, after being drafted to the SUNS with pick 2 in 2019.

In a distinct difference from the traditional red and yellow SUNS colours, Anderson fronted up to media at People First Stadium in a pair of vibrant pink socks ahead of the home QClash match this weekend.

“We’re trying to raise awareness for BCNA, we’ve got a teammate in Tom Berry whose family has been impacted by that, so we are doing our best to support him,” Anderson said.

“With so many Australian families being touched by breast cancer in some way, it’s obviously a really important cause to get around, and we will do our bit to help raise awareness by wearing the pink socks this weekend.”

The gesture is an important display of support for their teammate Tom Berry and his brother Jarrod, from the Lions to help raise awareness for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).

The Berry brothers have been BCNA Pink Sports Day Ambassadors since 2018, coordinating a number of initiatives to raise funds for breast cancer research including shaving their heads and running a marathon together in 2023.

Fans are encouraged to show their own support by purchasing a pair of BCNA socks for $15 from the BCNA website, with 100 per cent of profits from your ‘pinking up’ going directly to BCNA. Check out the BCNA store here.
