Sam Collins has been voted by the players as the David Swallow Award winner for 2024.
The David Swallow Award, previously known as Players’ Player, has been named in honour of club legend Swallow who has won the award on three previous occasions.
The award is voted on by all 47 listed players and recognises the player who has displayed the most selfless and inspirational acts throughout the year.
All players submit a 3-2-1 vote at the end of each month, which gets tallied to determine the winner.
Collins won the award on 187 votes, ahead of Matt Rowell (166), Bodhi Uwland (163), Mac Andrew (199) and Ben Long (81).
The SUNS vice-captain has been a pillar of consistency in 2024 and cemented himself as one of the competition’s most reliable key defenders.
He was named in the All Australian squad for the first time in his career and led the AFL for intercept possessions with over eight per game in 2024.
