First win at home in debut season – February 15, 2020

The SUNS open its AFLW account with an impressive 11-point win over Richmond at People First Stadium in Round 2 of the 2020 season. The match started off as a tight contest, but as the SUNS eased into the game, taking control in the second and third quarters before maintained their lead to the siren. Jamie Stanton delivered a vital performance collating a goal and 20 disposals while Kate Surman also kicked two goals.

Biggest AFLW win – September 9, 2023

In Round 2, 2023 the SUNS broke the record books with a monster win over the West Coast Eagles 99 (15.9) to 26 (4.2) at People First Stadium. Jamie Stanton delivered a career-best performance with second-most goals kicked in a single game in AFLW history, booting six goals in her 50th game. Tara Bohanna followed closely with four goals and eight disposals, as did Jac Dupuy with three goals. Lauren Bella controlled the ruck with 23 hit outs as the SUNS secured its largest score and its largest win in a dominant display.

First final – March 21, 2020

A monumental moment for the SUNS was making its first ever final a club, doing so in its debut AFLW season. The SUNS headed west to take on Conference B winners Fremantle and although the SUNS fell short against the Dockers, it was a stepping stone to a bigger future for the club.

First away win in Melbourne against the Pies – September 17, 2023

The Gold Coast SUNS shined in Round 3, 2023 taking its first ever win down in Melbourne against a Victorian opponent, defeating Collingwood by 12 points at Victoria Park. A tough contest included some strong performances, including three goals from Jamie Stanton (including the game’s final major) and a tough fight in the midfield from Claudia Whitfort who collated 24 disposals.

First home final against Sydney Swans – November 11, 2023

The SUNS’ fifth-placed finish earned the right to host its first ever home final against the Sydney Swans. Going down by 17 points in the Elimination Final was not the way the SUNS intended to go out, but it was not without some noteworthy performances with the likes of Tara Bohanna finishing with four goals, 13 disposals and four tackles. Lauren Bella had a massive 42 hit outs, while midfielder Alison Drennan collected 20 disposals.
