The Gold Coast SUNS have secured the services of midfielder Georgia Clayden for a further two AFLW seasons.
The versatile winger and leadership group member, who is yet to miss a match since debuting in the opening round of Season Seven, has penned a contract extension with the SUNS through until the end of the 2026 season.
Clayden, who boasted an esteemed sporting resume in numerous sports including netball and volleyball before joining the SUNS in 2022, has been a consistent contributor to Cameron Joyce’s side over the last three seasons.
The Season Seven Players’ Player award winner is most commonly seen on the wing and has shown an ability to hit the scoreboard as well, featuring in all 30 SUNS AFLW matches since making her debut.
“It’s a privilege getting the chance every day to train and play alongside a great group of players and represent this club,” Clayden said.
“I have loved every minute of my time on the Gold Coast so far. The support we get from our members and fans is incredible.
“I’m thrilled to be locked in for the next two seasons at the SUNS and to chase more success with this group.”
GC SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago says, “Georgia has been an important member of our program since joining the club in 2022.
“She leads by example both on and off the field and was fittingly elevated into our leadership group for the first time this season.
“We’re looking forward to seeing her continue to positively impact our program throughout the next two seasons.”
