SUNS small forward Darcy Macpherson made a successful return from his rehab on the weekend in the NEAFL curtain-raiser against the Brisbane Lions.
Gold Coast’s GM – Football Operations Jon Haines told the Alpha Sport Injury Update it was a pleasing result for Macpherson.
“A solid effort by Darcy, he’s been super diligent with his recovery and his rehab and it was terrific for everyone and particularly Darcy to see him back out there on the weekend,” Haines said.
“He’ll be playing again this weekend which is great to see.”
In further good news, Tom Nicholls is on track to return in the NEAFL from a shoulder injury which has seen him miss over four months of football.
“Tom’s been on an extended rehab period with his shoulder and is tracking really well and we’re really pleased with the way that he’s tackled all aspects of his rehab,” Haines said.
“We look forward to seeing him out there on the weekend.”
Harrison Wigg and Jack Martin have both also made strong progress in their respective rehab programs.
“Harrison Wigg and Jack Martin will take another step in their recovery this week when they start running,” Haines said.
“(It) is a great sign for both players and sets them up for a really positive off-season.”
