The Gold Coast SUNS have secured Jack Hombsch from the Port Adelaide Football Club.

The trade with PAFC, see’s Hombsch join the SUNS in exchange for Gold Coasts future fourth round selection, on traded from the Adelaide Crows in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.

The mature age defender has played a total of 98 games since making his debut for the GWS Giants in Round 1 of the 2012 premiership season.

General Manager - List & Strategy, Craig Cameron was confident that Hombsch could have a significant impact on the club.

"Jack will bring a strong and professional work ethic to the club, but also provides us with versatility in defense having the ability to play on tall, medium or small forwards,” said Cameron.

“We’ve had a clear strategy to target mature-age players who’re looking for greater opportunity at AFL level and are of great character, Jack definitely aligns with that plan,” Cameron said.

Hombsch was originally drafted by GWS as 17-year-old access selection in 2011 before being traded to the Port Adelaide FC for pick 29 in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft.
