Gold Coast evergreen defender Jarrod Harbrow has capped off what has been an outstanding 2018 campaign by taking out the Club Champion award on Saturday night.
It was a night of celebration for Harbrow, who as well as claiming his first club best and fairest was also bestowed the Players’ Player Award and Community Award.
“(I’m) very proud of the footy club and of myself and my family,” Harbrow told SUNS TV after the formalities.
“A lot of hard work has gone in to getting to this point but it’s been a great journey so far and I’m still building.
“I’m ready to attack pre-season and have another big year next year.”
After the first 10 rounds of voting Harbrow was just two votes behind eventual runner-up Touk Miller, but polled the most of any other player between rounds 10-15 to create an unassailable lead.
However that didn’t stop the nerves creeping up on the 30-year-old as the vote count wore on.
“I think you never know and you’re always analysing yourself like ‘how did I play in this round, how did I play in that round’,” Harbrow said.
“But I’m super proud of Lachie and Touk for coming runner-up and third so congratulations to those boys as well.”
In his acceptance speech, Harbrow paid tribute to his partner Emma who he credits as one of the main reasons he has had such a prolific season.

“She was speechless, I think she was very proud as well,” Harbrow said of Emma who was seated beside him when the announcement was made.
“I did mention up there on stage that she’s been super important to me being able to play football.
“She gives me such great balance in life and I owe her a lot.”
On top of his three awards, Harbrow was also inducted as a life member of the Gold Coast SUNS, just the third person and first player to receive the honour.
The club veteran said he’s been privileged to be involved with such great people in a great football club.
“I’m just proud that I’m able to represent the footy club and do my best job for the club,” he said.
“I’m just a small part of this footy club but if I can play my role and help this club to where we want to get to then I’m more than happy to do it.”
