Gold Coast forward Callum Ah Chee displayed his football finesse throughout 2016, showcasing why he was selected as a first round draft pick the year prior.
SUNS fans are expecting another impressive year on-field from the 19-year-old in 2017, but it’s his hidden talents that have sparked interest this off-season.
As Ah Chee’s Instagram followers will know, the West Australian has quite the set of pipes on him and has been uploading snippets of his vocal and guitar work at random.
“It’s something I’m starting to pick up on now playing guitar and learning myself,” Ah Chee told SUNS TV.
“It gets me not thinking about footy I guess, it’s fun.”
In an effort to further balance life on the Gold Coast with his football commitments, Ah Chee has also started work experience with a popular Mermaid Waters cafe.
“The Journal (Cafe) is pretty good, I live near there in Mermaid Waters, so that’s the spot I go to the most.
“I do work experience there on Sundays so shout out to them.
“[I’ve been doing] things like making juices, taking orders out and things like that - kind of getting the café vibe and seeing what it’s like.”
Ah Chee claims to have picked up a thing or two, treating housemates Jesse Joyce and Josh Schoenfeld to ‘Café Cal’ speciality coffees.
“I’ve got my own little café machine at home. I whip one up for ‘Schoey' and ‘Joycey' every now and then,” he said.
Ironically, Ah Chee’s new year’s resolution may be made even more difficult given these surroundings.
“Probably don’t drink as much coffee as I did last year,” he said.
