Although the SUNS played in bruising conditions on a waterlogged Metricon Stadium deck on Saturday night, the side has gotten through relatively unscathed and the bad luck that plagued Gold Coast over recent weeks finally seems to have turned.
Kade Kolodjashnij (ankle) and Jesse Lonergan (corked quad) played out the game against the Swans but will be monitored through the week ahead of Sunday’s game against Richmond at the MCG.
“It was a great game for our boys, they really acquitted themselves quite one against one of the very best teams in Sydney and all of the players got through unscathed,” GM – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft told the Optomo Injury Report.
“Both guys got through after having a few little knocks during the game so get through training tonight and also Thursday and should be available for the weekend.”
Swingman Sam Day appears to have put a hip complaint behind him and will be a vital inclusion for the Tigers clash.
“Sam Day’s had a great year, started down forward but played the last few weeks down back. He’s missed the last two weeks with a couple of knocks but he’ll be back and available this week,” Ashcroft said.
Jarrad Grant and Sean Lemmens also look set to play football this weekend after overcoming hamstring and rib injuries respectively.
Meanwhile in the reserves, Mitch Hallahan, Rory Thompson and Trent McKenzie all successfully returned from long-term injuries and will be available for senior selection this week.
