Save the Children is Australia’s leading independent emergency relief and development organisation or children. Since 1919, they have been working to ensure that every child – regardless of their race, religion or political persuasion – has the best possible chance to survive and thrive. Globally, Save the Children reaches over 100 million children in more than 126 countries; including working in over 90 locations here in Australia.
On Friday 22 June, Save the Children held its 2nd annual Swish+ Luncheon at Palazzo Versace. The event was a wonderful networking opportunity with 70 of the Gold Coast’s business and community leaders in attendance. Zac Smith and Josh Toy attended the event to talk about their role as Respect & Responsibility ambassadors, which is paramount to Save the Children’s work with children affected by domestic violence (pictured above are Zac & Josh with Karleen Harrington from Save the Children and Masterchef contestant Marion Grasby).
Following the Swish+ Luncheon, Save the Children participated in the annual NAIDOC celebrations. On the 4th of July at Arkinstall Park in Tweed the annual NAIDOC Sports Day was held with great success. The weather was bright and brisk, the crowds were there and everyone was in for a great day. Save the Children’s Mobile Playscheme van and it’s team were there and welcomed approximately 70 children who came through their stall. SUNS players Steven May and Harley Bennell went along to support this event and even had time for a kick with the kids. It was a fantastic day and the warm welcome from the children to the SUNS players was wonderful to see.
