Nick Malceski is set for his first taste of AFL rivalry Queensland style as the Gold Coast SUNS chase their first QClash cleansweep at the Gabba tomorrow evening.

He will be the SUNS’ only first time QClash player as they look to repeat their 64-point Round 5 win over the Brisbane Lions to complete a 2015 rout of the battle for Queensland football supremacy.

The SUNS will also be chasing back-to-back QClash wins for the first time and three wins in four games against the Lions.

Malceski, who will turn 31 next week, will surpass Josh Fraser to become the oldest SUNS player in a QClash.

The former Sydney Swans ace will be the Suns’ 57th QClash player.

The Lions’ QClash player list will reach 62 after Liam Dawson, debutant Billy Evans, Jono Freeman, Luke McGuane and Zac O’Brien were named to play their first QClash.

At the other end of the scale in a head-to-head rivalry that favors the Lions 6-3 overall, Jarrod Harbrow and Matt Shaw will line up for their 10th consecutive QClash.

With Brisbane pair Jed Adcock and Tom Rockliff, they are the only players never to have missed a game between the two clubs.

Michael Rischitelli, back into the SUNS side after missing last week’s draw with West Coast for personal reasons, will skipper the Gold Coast for the second time in a QClash after leading them to a commanding win against his former club earlier this year.

Tomorrow’s game will be the sixth QClash at the Gabba. The Lions have won the last four in the State capital after the SUNS won the first QClash in Brisbane in Round 7 2011.

Injured skipper Gary Ablett is the only player to have twice won the Marcus Ashcroft Medal for the player judged best afield in the QClash. He’s also the only player to have won the medal in a losing side.
