The Gold Coast SUNS can confirm AFLW midfielder Ellie Hampson will miss the start of the 2020 season through injury.
Hampson injured her ankle at a training session last week and as a result did not play in the club’s practice match against St Kilda.
The 18-year-old was sent for scans which revealed some damage to the ligaments in her ankle.
“It’s unfortunate news for Ellie but we expect her to approach her rehab diligently,” AFLW physiotherapist Aaron Duffy told SUNS Media.
“The recovery timeline for this injury is expected to be approximately four weeks.
“We’ll work closely with Ellie to return her to training as soon as possible.”
Hampson is one of three SUNS currently unavailable for Round 1 including Emma Pittman and Kitara Whap-Farrar.
