Gold Coast SUNS players Nathan Bock, Tom Lynch and Jacob Gilbee were joined by players from the Gold Coast Blaze today, to deliver presents to children in the children’s ward of the Gold Coast Hospital as part of the Beyond Building Energy’s annual Toy Drive.
The players helped deliver presents, to those in need, that had been collected from the Community over the last few weeks as part of the Toy Drive.
Every child received a wrapped Christmas present, as well as a Gold Coast SUNS showbag and hat, which bought smiles and delight to many of the young faces in the children’s ward.
Gold Coast SUNS Community Programs Officer said “All of the players have really enjoyed being able to assist those in need at Christmas time, in any way they can over the last few weeksâ€.
The Gold Coast Hospital visit is not the only time the Gold Coast SUNS players have helped those in need this Christmas, with the entire club recently contributing to one of the biggest charity events on the coast this year, the White Christmas Charity at Movieworld on December 3 this year.
The event saw close to 3500 of the most needy Gold Coasters attend the event from the clubs 3 charity areas (Youth Homelessness, Domestic Violence and the Northern Growth Corridor) in its inaugural year with all 50 of the Gold Coast SUNS players including the likes of Ablett, Hunt and Brown to name a few in attendance.
The players were involved in the Christmas parade with the characters under the glow of a million fairy lights and 20 snow machines at the start of the night, before then signing autographs and having photos taken with some of their biggest fans.
The White Christmas Charity Fund in the lead up to the event, also raised well over $30,000 for the clubs charities and the Gold Coast Community Fund, which will distribute much needed funding for many of the Gold Coasts charity groups programs in 2011.
